she had made a promise to the bees

oil painting on birch panel
10 inches square
$800.00

for probably close to a year i've had the desire to paint something with a combination of bees and icebergs and when i stumbled across the superstition that it was bad luck carry bees over water this painting immediately formed in my mind.

i've been away from the blog for a variety of reasons lately and hope this is the beginning of a return to my posting schedule of once or twice a week.  one reason for my absence has been that while i've been in love with painting lately and have much new work to show for it,  when i'm not painting my mind is just not on it.  i've been wanting to branch out with some new things and to start that off i've started (yet another) new blog.  While several other projects (my daily drawings for example) i've began haven't really stuck,  i'm hoping the new blog sticks around because the thing i've found that makes things difficult for me to maintain interest in a project is that i place these constraints on them and this blog will have none.

and other bits of news:
i'll be at the sun valley center arts and crafts festival next month and i'm thrilled to be part of a show here in portland - little winter: a handmade market

emily

the daily project just didn't work, life took over and trying to hang onto the every day nature of the thing just started to get too complicated. so the new direction of this blog is just to show my drawings - i'll still try do them most days but that's it, no grand plans and no complicated ideas just to make sure i post every day. simply a blog for drawings when i do drawings and they'll be for sale in my shop as usual.
